The national flag is rectangular and the ratio of length to width is 3:2. The flag is composed of three equal rectangles, orange, white and green, from top to bottom. In the middle of the white is a blue Falun with 24 spokes. Orange symbolizes courage, dedication and self sacrifice. Orange is also the color of the priests vestment. White symbolizes purity and truth. Green means confidence and represents the productivity on which human life depends. For Indians, Falun is the wheel of holiness, the wheel of truth, the wheel of progress, and the wheel of eternal return to the sky.

The National flag of India is a horizontal tricolor of deep saffron (kesari) at the top, white in the middle and dark green at the bottom in equal proportion. The ratio of width of the flag to its length is two to three. In the centre of the white band is a navy blue wheel which represents the chakra.
